Definition of verbal bullying

Verbal bullying is when someone insults someone else to feel more powerful because they feel  either insecure or superior. In most cases, verbal bullying is based on appearances. In some cases, the person bullying is not aware  of the impact of what he is saying has on the victim. So, bullying can be intentionnal or unintentionnal.

The Effects Of Verbal Bullynig

I'm going to tell you a story about a girl and you'll be able to see what the effects of verbal bullying can have. Let's say the girl's name is Maria. Someone started this awful rumour about her. She thought it was fine; she figured no one would know about it or if they did, they wouldn't believe it. But after no more than 2 days, everyone at Maria's school found out and started calling her very insulting names. Therefore, Maria was hurt and had very low self-confience. When people saw her, they gave her funny looks and would call her mean things. This went on far too long, so Maria cut herself.

Today, Maria is fine, but please be careful about what you say and what you do. You can easily make people feel useless, inferiour, ugly and so much worse! Not everyone will get over it, like Maria did.

ADVICE!

Bullying is a serious offense. Sometimes people are stuck in a vicious cycle and don't know what to do. So that's why I will be proposing some suggestions on how to get out of that cycle. If you are getting bullied the first thing you should do is tell the bully how you feel, because he/she might not know how hurtful his/her words are. If the bully continues then you should consider telling a trusted adult or just ignoring the bully until he/she stops.

But, like I said, these are just some suggestion and are not foolproof so you should explore different avenues on how to stop the bully. Persevere and never give up. But most importantly, never fight fire with fire.

Verbal bullying solutions!

Verbal bullying solutions!
There are many solutions to verbal bullying. We know that most people draw their attention to physical bullying rather than verbal intimidation, which is a big mistake. So, to prevent that from staying persistent, the teachers can give more serious punishments to verbal bullies. Also, parents should be aware of what is going on in their child's life. The parent can be someone that the child can turn to if the kid feels insecure because parents usually have more of an emotional relationship with their child. For example, a fifth grader was bullied at school. He decided to keep it to himself but ended up telling his mom, who was extremely supportive. Finally, the mom went to talk to the teacher, and then the professor spoke to the bully about his actions and the repercussions they had on the victim. The bully decided to stop bullying the innocent boy and later, they became friends. Remember, whenever you are being bullied, it is crucial to confess to someone your problems!

Consequences of verbal bullying

Consequences of verbal bullying

There are a lot of consequences due to verbal bullying. First of all, verbal bullying can lead to low self-esteem in the future because the victim will have had the habit of feeling inferior to everyone else. For example, a kid who constantly gets teased because of his obesity will probably not apply for certain jobs, even if he likes them, because he will feel insecure about his physique. Secondly, the victim might feel so alone and unhappy because of verbal bullying that it can lead to depression that can last his whole life. Verbal bullying is very serious and bad because it even might aggravate what a victim is living at home or in other places. For example, if his parents are always fighting or if one of his family members dies, the victim will have to deal with twice the pressure and sadness. In serious cases, the verbal bullying might be so bad that the victim will feel the need to hurt himself (substance abuse) or even to commit suicide. We need to find a way to end verbal bullying before irreparable consequences like that occur.
